Reader Roast

This is one of my top 3 favorite books ever, and I believe everyone should read it. Written by a psychotherapist who suffered unimaginable trauma and loss during WW2, Man\’s Search for Meaning examines how one can maintain hope and humanity in the face of suffering. A couple of my most beloved quotes from this book: \”Decisions, not conditions, determine what a man is.\” \”Even the helpless victim of a hopeless situation, facing a fate he cannot change, may rise above himself, may grow beyond himself, and by so doing change himself. He may turn a personal tragedy into a triumph.\” \”Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms – to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.\” \”Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.\”

As a chronic people pleaser, this was of the most life changing books I\’ve ever read. It\’s a humbling reminder that my boundaries are my responsibility, which is empowering when you feel like your life is full of chaos.

Check the trigger warnings on this one! I read this in under 24 hours so if you\’re in a reading slump, love a thriller, and don\’t value your sleep, this is for you!

oh my gosh I LOVE Elizabeth Zot–what a crazy cool woman

if you loved the Prequels (like me) you\’ll freak over this story that takes place between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith–makes Anakin\’s spiral even more heartbreaking.

The best in the series!

Yikes.

This book was very well written and you never connect all the dots until the very end! Even leaves you hanging on a couple pieces and you want to know more. I highly recommend this read!

I’m not usually a fan of historic fiction, but I enjoyed this book. I appreciated the the story being told from a woman’s perspective and the way the author conveyed how women were viewed, valued, and used in the time period. Spoiler alert – the silver fox probably wasn’t really needed.

A must read! Lots of drama, a bit of mystery, and a hint of romance. Plot twists that I didn’t anticipate. Well rounded characters that hook you.

I really the concept of the story and their was a mystery to solve.

This should be required reading in high school or college. It’s such a crazy story but then when you sit back and realize how quickly it all could actually happen it’s terrifying! …especially as a woman.
